No matter how much we swear we won’t be “that person,” it seems every smartphone user eventually becomes chained to their phone. Studies show most smartphone users keep their devices within arm’s reach all day, every day.

Every few minutes, even if the phone didn’t vibrate or sound an alert, we feel obligated to check for updates on the tiny computers Infront of us . It is just too bad and common and aming students.

Due to the prevalence of smartphones in our society, excessive use and even addiction have become significant global issues. Although numerous studies have examined the relationships between mobile phone use and educational outcomes, many such studies have yielded mixed findings.

Most of these studies have explored the effects of problematic smartphone use and academic performance using students’ self-reported course grades. Hence, this study focuses on student learning because course grades do not always measure the learning outcomes. Thus, one of the goals of this meta-analysis is to examine whether smartphone use in the classroom affects students’ learning

Most of the literature that examines the relationship between problematic smartphone use and academic performance reports varying levels of negative consequences

  1. It is  suggest that the greater the use of a phone while studying, the greater the negative impact on learning and academic achievement.

Skills and cognitive abilities, that students need for academic success and learning, can be negatively affected by excessive and addictive phone use. It is  further reveals that when students have difficulty controlling their smartphone use, there is a potential that they are experiencing smartphone addiction. This issue may require implementing various ccognitive behavioral therapies, clinical interventions, and self-care strategies

Students were less attentive and performed worse when trying to multi-task and use their phones while doing other activities such as driving, walking, working or learning. While many think that multi-tasking is easy, the reality is that it requires more time, energy and focus to shift between different tasks than it would to simply do one at a time.

The  popularization of the Internet and smartphones provides a large amount of information and knowledge, it may also lead to the formation of fragmented thinking habits among college students, who are more inclined to obtain information quickly and lack the opportunity for independent and in-depth thinking, making it difficult to form innovative thinking and creative problem-solving ability

Difficulty sleeping . The light emitted by a cell phone screen can interfere with natural melatonin production, especially when used within two hours of bedtime.

Another factor contributing to disrupted sleeping patterns is the tendency for people to keep their phones next to them while they sleep. Not only does this make it more likely that people will be woken up by phone notifications, but studies have also shown that having a phone nearby increases stress levels and decreases feelings of relaxation before bedtime
