Different between between pigeon And Dove

Biologically, there is no technical distinction between pigeons and doves. They both belong to the family Columbidae.

The different names are primarily a matter of linguistic tradition rather than scientific classification. In general usage, pigeon  is assigned to the larger, more robust species with rounded tails, while dove describes the smaller, more delicate birds with pointed tails.

Beyond their physical scale, their appearances often differ in color and texture. Pigeons, such as the common Rock Pigeon, frequently display iridescent feathers around their necks and come in a wide variety of mottled patterns

while doves tend to feature a more uniform, muted palette of soft grays, tans, and whites. Despite these visual cues, even experts sometimes struggle to categorize them definitively because the two terms are used inconsistently across different cultures and regions
